Awesome book! The story is an important one of identity, especially for people with mixed heritage, and is well told, but what really makes the book is the great art by both main illustrator Monica Rickert-Bolter and the great Tlingit artist Preston Singletary, who contributed formline designs – notably of the animals met by Freckles, but also subtly worked into the backgrounds of several pages. Particularly nice is the appearance of one shadowing Freckles after she has realized her Tlingit identity.
